alvarv Coal Mines Pension Scheme came into effect from 31st March 1998. The scheme replaced the Coal Mines Family Pension Scheme, 1971. The objective of introducing the new scheme was to provide adequate and more comprehensive social security benefits to the employees in the coal mines. The scheme provides benefits not only to the employees but also their family members in case of death of the member. The benefits to the family members are provided through widow pension, children pension and disability pension.
